Why It Happens
Three real reasons your current supplement is not working.
Vitamin D
Your skin was built for a different sun.
Black skin has more melanin, which is what gives it its depth and richness. But melanin also blocks the sunlight your body uses to make Vitamin D. In cities like Toronto, Chicago, and New York, there is not enough sun to compensate. The standard dose on every major multivitamin does almost nothing to close that gap.

Iron
The iron in your vitamin is the wrong kind.
Most supplements use the cheapest form of iron available. For many Black adults, that form does not absorb well. It passes through the body without doing its job. That is why iron deficiency is so much more common in Black communities even among people who supplement regularly. A different form of iron fixes this almost entirely.
"I kept getting told my iron was low. I was already taking supplements. Nobody could explain why."
Calcium
Most calcium supplements assume you drink milk.
The most common form of calcium in supplements is designed to absorb alongside dairy. The majority of Black adults are lactose intolerant. So the calcium goes in and most of it comes straight back out. A simple swap to a different form of calcium changes everything. Nobody making Centrum thought to make that swap.
